Sonic Origins - Wendy Witchcart

The second half of the shared picture with Cyclone the Owl. This is the second antagonist in the Sonic Origins: 60 Years Ago storyline, Wendy Witchcart. As with Cyclone, this design depicts Wendy when she's 60 years younger and delves into her backstory greatly. Like Dr. Fukurokov, Wendy Witchcart is another very obscure character, coming from the Tails Skypatrol game.

Wendy is a 21 year old half-Spagonian, half-Shamaran witch. When she was young, her father, and the father of Professor Gherkin Pickle, were work colleagues. As a result, she and Pickle grew up together as childhood friends. One day, their fathers had a falling out, and her family moved away to Shamar, never seeing the Pickle family again. Growing up, Wendy was lonely and didn't make many friends after leaving Gherkin. Her mother, being a Shamaran witch of sorts, taught Wendy the mystical arts, showing her how she can make her own friends and how she doesn't need people. Wendy creates three animal familiars to be her friends; a wolf, a bear and a small rabbit. Later on, it is revealed the magic she is really using is channelling from the ghostly energy of King Boom Boo, cursing her life with misfortune as those around her are put in danger. She grows up becoming cold and withdrawn from others, taking on a villainous role as she becomes a ruthless mercenary. Along with Cyclone, she also agrees to work for the mysterious entity.

I had a lot of fun with her design, making her much younger and much more attractive than her present day design. I wanted to show her to be an actual witch, and more capable of combat for the purpose of the story she is involved in. I also need to redesign Fockewulf, Bearenger and Carrotia too, to show that their designs change as well in accordance to Wendy's aging.
